Haliburton Pastoral Charge

Today we welcome Jean Schicklen-Tyler to our three churches to lead us in worship.  Harry is on vacation.

Knitting Group will meet Tuesday, November 1 at 10:00 am.  Come out and join with the ladies for some fellowship and fun, as well as knitting.

Pastoral Charge Joint Service at Haliburton UC on Sunday, November 27 at 10:30 am.  This is the first Sunday of Advent and communion will be served.  Haliburton will not be serving lunch that day as the Festival Singers are holding a concert in the afternoon and need time to set up.

Handel’s Messiah presented by The Highlands Festival Singers, under the direction of Melissa Stephens, Saturday, November 26 and Sunday November 27 at 2:30 pm at Haliburton United Church.  General admission $20.00.

Haliburton UC

The Board of Stewards is in the process of installing new windows in the basement.  We are asking for your help to finance this necessary repair to our building.  With prayerful consideration, we ask for you to donate to the Special Projects line on your envelope.  The total cost of windows is $3,614.32.

Stewardship and Mission Offering:  The extra monthly Mission for November is the Canadian Blind Mission.  We thank you for your support and ask that you mark your envelope when giving to this extra mission.  Take note of the Stewardship and Mission bulletin board in the foyer.  Information will be posted as it becomes available.

Bible studies:

For a time of study, prayer and fellowship, please join us:

  • Women to Women Bible Study, Tuesdays in the library 11:30 am until 1 pm. All women are welcome to join us at any time. For info call the office 705-457-1891. 
  • Wednesday Morning Bible Study in the Library 10 – 11:30 a.m.

Library: The library is open during office hours except when being used for meetings. The librarian is available Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon to help in choosing a book, DVD or teaching material (holidays excluded).

There is a book nook in the foyer with several books that are duplicates of books already in our library.  The books are free for the taking; but if you desire, there is a donation box and all money donated will go to the Mission and Service Fund.

Did you know that our library also carries DVDs?  I have placed 5 in the foyer for your enjoyment. Prairie Pirates (hilarious) and The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry (inspiring) are both suitable for children and adults. Gifted Hands – The Ben Carson Story is about a brilliant brain surgeon who overcame adversity. Hidden Places, based on the award winning novel by Lynn Austin (this book is also in the library. The Note based on a novel by Angela Hunt.  Please sign the card on the back of the DVD and place in the basket then take home and enjoy.  Margaret Mark – Librarian

Coffee is available every Sunday before church in the foyer outside of the Fellowship Room.  All are welcome to partake and enjoy!
