Haliburton Pastoral Charge

The United Church of Canada is launching an Extreme Hunger Appeal as the humanitarian crisis in Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, and Yemen reaches grave levels. Starvation and extreme hunger are rapidly reaching a scale the world has not seen before in Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, and Yemen. There is also extreme hunger, malnutrition, and starvation in Kenya. Vulnerable people are most impacted, including children. Find out more by going to United Church of Canada website. You are able to donate online directly or through your church treasurer. Please note on your cheque “Emergency Response: Extreme Hunger Appeal”.  Prayers are also requested!

Change of Location and Time: Men’s breakfast and time of fellowship Saturday, April 8, at 8:00 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church. This will be an opportunity for the men of our church / pastoral charge to get to know the men at St. George’s Church. All men are welcome.

The combined choirs of Zion and Haliburton United Churches under the direction of Melissa Stephens present “Tears of the Father”, a Good Friday Service. Presentations will take place on Friday, April 14 at Zion in Carnarvon at 9 a.m., and at Haliburton at 11:15 a.m. All are welcome.

Come join us Saturday, April 22nd  9am-1pm at  Lochlin United Church for our Spring Maplefest Pancake/Sausage/ Brunch and Bake Sale. Real Haliburton maple syrup, of course! All you can eat :  Adults-$8.00   Children under 12- $4.00 Preschool free. Best deal in town!

St. George’s Choir and Friends present Spring Concert featuring Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Trial By Jury” Sunday, April 2 – 2 pm; Wednesday, April 5 and Friday, April 7 – 7:30 pm at St. George’s Church. Tickets $15. available at Master’s Bookstore, Haliburton.  In support of St. George’s and local outreach projects – with appreciation assistance from Highlands Little Theatre.

Easter Flowers:  Please sign the order sheet, in the foyer, for Easter flowers in memory of friends or family.  The flowers will beautify the Sanctuary on Easter Sunday and be available for you to take home after the service.  Final date for order is April 2.  Please pay Cheryle Russell (705-457-8868).

Pot Luck Lunch:  Our next pot luck lunch will be held on Sunday, April 23rd.  Help is needed with clean up.  Thank you.

Stewardship and Mission Offering:  The extra monthly Mission for April is the Sleeping Children Around the World.  We thank you for your support and ask that you mark your envelope when giving to this extra mission.  Take note of the Stewardship and Mission bulletin board in the foyer.  Information will be posted as it becomes available.

Bible studies:

For a time of study, prayer and fellowship, please join us:

  • Women to Women Bible Study, Tuesdays in the library 11:30 am until 1 pm. All women are welcome to join us at any time. For info call the office 705-457-1891.
  • Wednesday Morning Bible Study in the Library 10 – 11:30 a.m.

Library: The library is open during office hours except when being used for meetings. The librarian is available Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon to help in choosing a book, DVD or teaching material (holidays excluded).

Coffee is available every Sunday before church in the foyer outside of the Fellowship Room.  All are welcome to partake and enjoy!
