Haliburton Pastoral Charge

Today we welcome Rev. Don Waterhouse to lead us in worship at all three of our churches. Harry is on vacation.

Men’s breakfast and time of fellowship Saturday, November 17, 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.  Come and enjoy a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs.  All men are welcome.

Please join us on Sunday December 2nd for a joint service for the Pastoral Charge at Lochlin United Church gathering at 10 am for singing; service starting at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the 1st Sunday of Advent.  Communion will be served.  This will be an opportunity for all 3 churches to worship together and get to know one another a little better. 

The “Highlands Festival Singers” directed by Melissa Stephens celebrate the arrival of the Christmas Season with “Deck the Halls with Songs and Laughter”. A fun concert featuring the lighter side of Christmas music Sunday, Dec 2 at 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Haliburton United Church; $15 General Admission. Tickets available at CRANBERRY COTTAGE, Haliburton, MINDEN PHARMASAVE, Minden, or by calling 705 457 4916.

44th and final Christmas in Carnarvon Wednesday, December 5th at 7 pm (arrive early). If you wish, bring a donation for the food banks.

Bells of Peace 1918 – 2018 – A remembrance of those who served in the First World War. We will be ringing our church bell 100 times on Nov 11th at dusk in remembrance of the veterans of WWI. Rene Benoit has volunteered to ring the bell. Are there any in our HUC congregation who might be descendants of a WWI veteran and who might be interested in helping to ring the bell or anyone who may have an interest in this? The event has been organized by the Legion and is going to take place across Canada.

Pot Luck Lunch: We will be having Pot Luck Lunch on Sunday November 25. Help is needed with clean up. Thanks.

4Cs (Christian Community Concern Centre) is looking for helpers. If you are interested in becoming a director or helper please contact Ron Mark at 705-457-9559 or Debbie Bain 705-754-2604 or talk to either one after church.

Stewardship and Mission Offering:  The extra monthly Mission for November is Christian Blind Mission. We thank you for your support and ask that you mark your envelope when giving to this extra mission. Take note of the Stewardship and Mission bulletin board in the foyer. Information will be posted as it becomes available.

Bible studies:

For a time of study, prayer and fellowship, please join us:

  • Women to Women Bible Study, Tuesdays in the library 11:30 am until 1 pm. All women are welcome to join us at any time. For info call the office 705-457-1891.
  • Wednesday Morning Bible Study in the library 10 – 11:30 a.m.

Library: The library is open during office hours except when being used for meetings. The librarian is available Tuesdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to help in choosing a book, DVD or teaching material (holidays excluded).

Coffee is available every Sunday before church in the foyer outside of the Fellowship Room.  All are welcome to partake and enjoy!
