Upcoming Events and Notices

Saturday, November 11: Men’s Breakfast and Fellowship at 8:30 a.m. All men are welcome. Those unable to attend are invited to read and meditate on the selected scripture over breakfast at home.

Until Nov. 12: Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Each year OCC partners with the local church worldwide to collect shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for needy children around the world. For details on the three different ways you can participate, visit the shoeboxes program page on the Haliburton United Church website. Packed boxes are due back to the church by Sunday, November 12.

Friday, November 17: Elvis in Concert — fundraiser for Haliburton UC at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Garry Wesley, award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist, sings your favourite songs and Gospel standards. Tickets are $30.00, available at the church or by calling the church office at 705-457-1891.

November 18 and 24: Float driver(s) needed for the Haliburton Pastoral Charge band’s float for the Minden and Haliburton Santa Claus Parades (see event details below). For more information call the pastoral charge office at 705-457-1891.

Saturday, November 18: Minden Santa Claus Parade and Christmas in the Village from 11 am. to 4 p.m. at the Cultural Centre, including the parade along Parkside Street and Bobcaygeon Road, visits with Santa after the parade until 2 p.m., artisan sales and more. Friday, November 24: Haliburton Santa Claus Parade — “A Storybook Christmas” with carolling at 5:30 p.m., the tree lighting at at 6 p.m. and the parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. from east to west on Highland Street. For details, go to the Haliburton Santa Claus Parade web page by clicking here.

Wednesday, November 29: Wednesday Movie Matinee: St. George’s Anglican Church presents “Simon Birch” at 1:30 p.m. at the church at 617 Mountain St. in Haliburton, part of a series of free movie screenings on the last Wednesday of the month.

Current Events and Notices

Monthly mission: Our mission for November is Mercy Ships. For details and to learn how to donate, visit the Monthly Missions page on the HUC website beginning November 1.

Sundays: Service in church and online via live stream on YouTube at 11:15 a.m.

Tuesdays: Minds in Motion from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Haliburton UC (NOTE time change). The next session will break for the holidays after December 12. This Alzheimer’s Society program designed to provide physical activity and mental and social stimulation. $30/couple for 8 weeks. Call Jennifer at 705-748-5131 x225.

Tuesdays: The Ecumenical Bible Study group meets from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Zoom. The group is using simple Ignacious method of reading and praying with the scripture. If you would be interested in joining the group online, let Jean Tyler know by calling 705-457-2214.

Wednesdays: Women to Women Bible Study. The group meets online at 3:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month via Zoom. For more information email Lisa.

Sunday School: A selection of lessons and interactive materials is posted on the Sunday School web page for downloading for use at home to encourage kids in their faith. Classes are on hiatus.
