Wednesday, November 29: Wednesday Movie Matinee: St. George’s Anglican Church presents “Simon Birch” at 1:30 p.m. at the church at 617 Mountain St. in Haliburton, part of a series of free movie screenings on the last Wednesday of the month.
Saturday, December 2: Live Nativity, a guided journey to Bethlehem, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Head Lake Park in Haliburton, hosted by Lakeside Church. Start your journey at the Park Street (north) end of the park. Live animals will help set the stage. Light snacks will be available in the church to enjoy when you’ve finished your tour. Sunday, December 3: Communion Service – First Sunday of Advent. Those watching online are invited to join us by having bread and wine or juice on hand.
Sunday, December 3: Congregational Meeting after the service. Ingoldsby United Church has voted to close at the end of the year. The main topic of this meeting is the request by Ingoldsby to amalgamate with Haliburton United Church. A light lunch will be provided.

Wednesday, December 6: Christmas in the Highlands (formerly Christmas in Carnarvon) at 1:30 p.m. at HIghland Hills United Church, 21 Newcastle St., Minden. Ladies of the church are invited to attend, and invited to consider taking part with a short poem, song, skit or reading. Coffee, tea and goodies to follow.
Tuesday, December 12: Laughing all the Way. Comedy and carols for the whole family at 7:00 p..m. at Lakeside Church, Haliburton. Hosted by Lighthouse Church. General ticket prices: $18 each / $50 for families. Prices at the door: $20 each / $55 for families. laughingalltheway.us

Current Events and Notices
Monthly mission: Our mission for November is Mercy Ships. For details and to learn how to donate, visit the Monthly Missions page on the HUC website beginning November 1.
Sundays: Service in church and online via live stream on YouTube at 11:15 a.m.
Tuesdays: Minds in Motion from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Haliburton UC (NOTE time change). The next session will break for the holidays after December 12. This Alzheimer’s Society program designed to provide physical activity and mental and social stimulation. $30/couple for 8 weeks. Call Jennifer at 705-748-5131 x225.
Tuesdays: The Ecumenical Bible Study group meets from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Zoom. The group is using the simple Ignacious method of reading and praying with the scripture. If you would be interested in joining the group online, let Jean Tyler know by calling 705-457-2214. The group will pause for the holidays after the December 19 study.
Wednesdays: Women to Women Bible Study. The group meets online at 3:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month via Zoom. The group has paused for the holiday season and will resume meetings on January 24. For more information email Lisa.
Sunday School: A selection of lessons and interactive materials is posted on the Sunday School web page for downloading for use at home to encourage kids in their faith. Classes are on hiatus.
